Based on the heritage and the expertise of the Hungarian ammunition manufacturing dated back to “Magyar Fegyver és Lőszergyár Inc.” in 1881, our predecessor company “Mátravidéki Fémművek Ltd”. was established in Sirok, Hungary in 1952. The focus was on supplying ammunition to the Hungarian military and law enforcement organizations during the cold war in the 1950’s. With the help of an additional investment to the factory, the production of new types of ammunition started to enter the sport and hunting market in the late 1950’s with the brand name of “MFS” (Mátravidéki Fémművek Sirok – Matra Metalworks Sirok) and exported its product to more than 70 countries.
A major milestone was in the life of our company when RUAG Ammotec Group (ammunition producer of Geco, Norma, RWS, Rottweil and Swiss P brands) acquire the factory and the brand name in 2009. After the acquisition, it was integrated into RUAG’s German and Swiss systems by introducing top-notch technologies and processes in order to supply the premium brands of the group with pistol and revolver ammunition. We are able to manufacture ammunition according to C.I.P., to NATO and to the former Soviet/Russian standards.
Strict quality management, according to ISO 9001 and AQAP standards with regular audits and certifications, supervises the production. Our R&D unit is in line with the market trends and it makes sure that MFS is able to launch new products annually. One of our latest achievements is the high accuracy MFS pistol and revolver ammunition family.
RUAG Ammotec group decided to reintroduce MFS brand to be its main pillar to its dynamic expansion of its worldwide defense and law enforcement business with NATO standard ammunition.
The Beretta Holding purchased the Ammotec Group from RUAG on 1st August 2022 including the Hungarian ammunition factory. The Luxemburg based Beretta Holding owns the following worldwide known and respected premium brands of weapons and optics: Beretta, Benelli, Sako, Tikka, Holland and Holland, Stoeger, Franchi, Chapuis Armes, Steiner Optics and Burris Optics. The Sirok, Hungary based company operates further under MFS Defense Inc. from this date.
